Provence is a region on the Mediterranean coast in southern France, next to the Italian border. The area is very popular with tourist both international and French because of its location and close distance to the French Riviera. The architecture and history of the region is of great interest to many and Aix-en-Provence, Arles and Avignon are regularly visited for such reasons.

Travelling to Provence
The regions local airport (Avignon Airport) deals with domestic and European flights. The closest international airport is around a three hour drive away. Lyon, Marseilles and Nice all have large airports with transfers to Avignon. If train is more in your interest then its a three hour travel direct from Paris to Avignon.

Accommodation
Many people who visit this region move around the historic towns rather than staying in one place. Whether you choose to stay in a base or explore the beautiful region there are numerous accommodation options to choose from. All lodgings are rich in Provencal character and beauty. Hotels and guest houses are scattered everywhere so there is a choice for all budgets.
