The activities involved in preventing and fighting terrorism are referred to as counter terrorism. They are a huge part of daily operations taking place that most of us are barely aware of. These types of activities are taking place on many different levels including your local law enforcement, statewide, at the federal level, and spanning across all of the branches of the military.
Terrorism acts can take place from those that are part of political movements in your own country. They dont necessarily have to be people from another country that are trying to make a statement. This is why it is so vital that counter terrorism takes place on local levels too. Individuals are encouraged to report any suspicious behaviors or purchases immediately to law enforcement.
You may think your findings are unfounded, but dont ignore them. After most acts of terrorism it is generally discovered that many different people had information that they didnt know at the time was relevant. All of those pieces of information could have been used to counter the attacks. Document the information you have including the date, time, who was involved, and the location.
