The Food and Drug Administration understands that people may not eat properly. That is why they have listed recommendations for consumers about health supplements and specifically those with antioxidant properties. The simple fact is the human body cannot work properly without antioxidants. The FDA acknowledges that a lack of antioxidants in a persons diet is detrimental to their health. They also recognize that health supplements are coming to the aid of many people.

Most people — even those who eat healthy — do not consume the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals they need on a daily basis. When the human body lacks the proper nutrients that include antioxidants (foods that contain vitamins C and E, along with beta-carotene and selenium) the immune system is not as strong as it should be. This means that common illnesses and even serious diseases can arise.
