Northern Exposure follows the life of recent medical school graduate Joel Fleishman (Rob Morrow) who is informed that he must work in a small town in Alaska in order to fulfill the requirements of his medical school loan. Making matters worse, he’s the only doctor in the small town which is filled with eccentric characters from every walk of life. The wealthy entrepreneur Maurice Minnifield owns the town (named Cicely), and he’s determined to transform it into an ideal vacation paradise.
