Ultimate Frisbee Rules

The official rules for ultimate Frisbee were established in 1980 when the Ultimate Players Association was introduced. With so many teams starting to take part in the events from colleges and clubs this was becoming an issue. There was too much controversy at the matches as people had variations of the game that they were playing. With standard rules in place though it evened the playing field and removed a great deal of discontent from the competitions.

The goal of the game is to score more points than their opponents. A set amount of time is given for the points to be scored. Each team has two players on it. They have to pass the Frisbee back and forth to each other. If the pass is caught then the team scores a point. If it is dropped then there is no point.

The team is motivated to make the passes extremely quick in order to make sure they get enough points. Yet if they go too fast they risk them not being completed and thus no points being scored. Even though only two players can be on the field at a time, they can be changed. This allows tired players or those that have been hurt to be replaced for the remaining time in the event.
