Most of us think of Frisbee as a lighthearted game that takes place outdoors. Two people toss the disk back and forth to each other. Sometimes you even see people in the park tossing it to a well trained dog that bring it back to the owner again and again. You may not realize that ultimate Frisbee is a competitive sporting event. There are various colleges around the world where it is one of the top events that takes place.
There are plenty of different contests out there where people can show their skills in the area of ultimate Frisbee. Many of them are sponsored by large companies so they are able to offer wonderful prizes including money, trips, and various types of sporting equipment. Some of these contests are open to anyone while others are by invitation only for the top winners in other competitions that have taken place.
The game really fell into place in 1980 with the introduction of the Ultimate Players Association. They decided the rules that the regional and national competitions would be played by.
