Peptic ulcer is a health disorder that refers to painful sores in the lining of the stomach called duodenum, the first part of the small intestines. Recent medical studies suggest that the primary cause of peptic ulcer is a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections usually involve the presence of Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori). Although not generally not considered a serious health problem, peptic ulcer should never be taken for granted and may lead to a life-threatening condition if left untreated.
